Travel Essentials

dfghj

Hey everyone ūüôā

I know that a few of you guys are going travelling soon and seeing as I’m also off to Turkey for a week in 3 weeks ! I thought that it was only right to talk with you guys about my travel essentials ! I will say that these are probably geared more at airport travel but a lot of them can also be applied to any form of long journey.

Hand Sanitizer

Airports and train stations can be grubby places, and is home to a whole host of germy surfaces. So I like to carry around a little hand sanitizer as no one wants to be getting sick on holiday ! just bear in mind though that if you are taking it through airport customs you can only carry less than 100 ml, and also the container must be no bigger than 100 ml so even if you have a half filled 200 ml container it will not be allowed through !

Chap stick

I¬†don’t know if this is just me but when I’v had a long, tiring day my lips always dry out and really start to hurt and burn ! so¬†I always make sure I have a chap stick with me. Again if you are carrying these through customs they must be put in a clear plastic bag. For this reason¬†I do not carry any other makeup in my hand luggage apart from my chap stick, just to make life that little bit easier …

Plasters

I recommend wearing your comfiest shoes whilst travelling to avoid sore feet as much as possible, however sometimes even the comfiest of shoes can give you blisters with the amount of walking you do around an airport. and there in nothing worse than having to do a lot of walking with every step causing you pain, so always bring plasters, just in case !

Entertainment

So in my case I have a 2 hour car ride to the airport, a 4 hour flight to Turkey and then another 1 hour¬†drive to where we are staying ! So¬†I am definitely going to be in need of something to help the hours pass…¬† I always make sure¬†I have some sort of reading material, whether it be a magazine or a book. In most cases I have both ! I read ridiculously fast and when I’m really into a book¬†I can finish it in a day ! so I tend to really stock up on my reading material. Also a phone, Mp3 or IPod is usually a good shout so that you can listen to your tunes, just don’t forget to bring head phones !

This is an important one…FOOD AND DRINK

Its easy to forget about food and drink when you’re rushing around trying not to miss your flight, and usually¬†I will end up buying something to eat in duty free. However sometimes this isn’t always an option if you are running late. Also buying food on the plane is bloody expensive !! So¬†I always make sure that¬†I have at least a little snack with me, and¬†I know that if¬†I don’t eat it, I’m sure either¬†one of my siblings will gobble it up for me !I’ll usually have something like a banana,¬†or a cereal bar or a sandwich.¬†Also it important to keep hydrated at any time of the year so make sure you have a bottle of H2O on you. But remember you cant take bottled water through customs ,so finish up the bottle before and then replace it with another in duty free.

Finally…

Don’t forget the important¬†stuff !! Passport, money, tickets, documents etc. Because I doubt you will get very far without them … ūüėČ

thank you for reading and let me know in the comments what your travel essentials are !

A little trip to Boots…

kjehkw

Hey everyone !!

Whilst In boots¬†the other day with my cousin, I had a bit of a what the hell moment, and a quick pit stop to pick up a mascara turned in a full on splurge…

Eyes

lkhfgdkh

I decided to branch out and¬†try a different mascara, one that I had never used before. This Super Curler volume and curl mascara from Rimmel looked promising and wasn’t to expensive either (¬£6.99) so I decided to give it a go. iv only been using it for a couple of days so I haven’t really formed a full opinion of it yet, but it seems to be doing the trick… I also picked up the Collection Extreme 24 hour¬†felt tip¬†liner. I had actually given this to my mum for mothers day, and she said that it was good and let me try it out and I have to agree. it works like a felt tip pen which makes wings much easier for a novice such as my self, seriously I’m a bit hopeless when it comes to winged eyeliner.

Nails

lchskdjh

I definitely went a¬† bit overboard ¬†with the nail polish haha. But at only ¬£2.99 each I just couldn’t say no. I bite my nails see, so I’m always trying to find a way to make them look a little less ragged. I actually managed to get myself out of the habit a couple of years ago, but the stress of A levels have left me right back at square 1 ūüė¶ so I’m now back in the process of growing my nails again. These four shades from the Rimmel Rita Ora collection, which I have named above, are all so pretty and summery…well maybe the grey isn’t as light and summery but its the kind of colour that looks good all year round…I’m actually wearing it on my nails right now !

Skin

asdfg

This Nivea light moisturising day cream is actually a repurchase. I was in the process of squeezing out the last couple of drops the last week so I decided to get another one as I really like it ! The one I get (the normal/combination skin) has spf 15 which is handy with it being summer. I also think that the smell is delicious !! which is weird because it kind of smells like sun cream haha , but a nice sun cream. I was also pleasantly surprised when I found that it was half price at £2.51 ! Bargain.

I hope you enjoyed this little haul, let me know if you have any makeup or skincare recommendations ! Byyeeee

First week of freedom over

8771aa41-5a8a-41b0-8d21-0a1b585b31d8[1]

So the first week of my summer holiday is over and most people still haven’t started theirs ! Its been so strange not having any home work or revision to do and its like my mind hasn’t completely wound down yet. The other day I was sat at the dinner table and me and my family were just chatting after we had finished eating. I had a sudden surge of panic and I thought ‘right I need to stop talking now and go upstairs and do some work’ and as I went to stand up from the table I realized ‘wait ! what am I thinking I have no revision to do ! I can relax and talk with my family as much as I want !’ haha

Naturally it has taken a while to get used to so much free time on my hands, and I have found that since finishing my exams and college I feel like I have to keep myself busy, or I get bored ! So this week I have tried to enjoy the freedom and not waste a second of it. Iv started posting on my blog more regularly, and as I’m still fairly new to this I’m still figuring out my style, content and how often I would like to post. At the moment I’m aiming for a minimum of 2 posts a week but most of the time I reckon it will be more. Also¬†my content is very varied, but I think I have decided not to conform to a certain niche like ‘beauty blogger’ or ‘lifestyle blogger’ I am just going to post about topics I enjoy to talk about. Because at the end of the day I write this blog for fun ! this blog is my creative outlet and I love the interaction with other bloggers.

I have also found my self going out a lot more with my friends and family…¬†even on my own just for a walk ! I have taken up extra hours at work as well to fill my time and also earn some extra cash. I also went out on my first night on the town on Saturday since April ! All of us have been so busy since then that we just never had the time…or money :-/¬† But on Saturday night a group of about 10 of us, with more joining as the night went on decided to hit the clubs. I’m not the biggest club fanatic, I like to go out and have a little drink and a dance now and then but I couldn’t do it every weekend. .. However I thoroughly¬† enjoyed myself ! I really did. It was so lovely to go out with my friends and let our hair down and have a laugh.

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you are having an incredible day !

Bye for now

Review: ST. Moriz self tanner

Good morning/afternoon/evening/night everyone ! ūüôā

Today I thought I would give a (not so) quick review of the St Moriz self tanning mousse.

kgjh

I will just disclaim that this is actually the first instant self tanner I have used so I cannot compare it to other instant tan brands. However, before tying this I used gradual tanning moisturizer, so I can compare to that.

So firstly, I had always used a gradual tanner rather than a full on instant tanner as ,being very light skinned I was terrified that if I used a proper tanner that I would resemble a similar shade to an oompa loopa ! therefore not only did I use a gradual tanner, but¬†I also used the lightest shade possible ! And although I did ,and still do like the brand of gradual tanner I used (Dove summer glow) and did show a slight difference even after the first application,¬†I was just too impatient and got bored of having to apply it every night, so a few weeks ago, I was out in town with¬†a friend, and¬†I decided to pick one up. I didn’t want to go for the pricier ST Tropez that my friend used, just encase I didn’t like it (¬†I¬†didn’t want to waste my money) so she suggested St Moriz ( which was on sale¬†for only ¬£3 in Wilkinsons !!!) ¬†which she used as well as St Tropez.

The first thing I loved about it, which Im guessing is the same for all instant tanners ,is that you can actually see where you have put it ! with the gradual tanner I would often miss spots and it would be hella patchy. I was worried about this instant tanner¬†coming out uneven and patchy as it was a cheap brand,¬†but I haven’t had that problem with ST Moriz. I think this was because I exfoliated before hand and I moisturised the dry areas before applying like knees, elbows etc… so I recommend doing that ! Also I would suggest using a mitt rather than your hands.

Also being a cheaper brand, I was worried that the colour of the tan itself wouldn’t be as nice as say the St Tropez, and that it would be orangey.. but NOPE. It was a perfect shade. It wasn’t orange at all. The first time I used it I left it to develop for the minimum time, 4 hours and then washed it of and it was just right, I even had some wriggle room that if I wanted to go darker I could. The second time I used it I got a bit braver and left it on to develop over night ! I will say that there was a little bit of fake tan on the inside of my T-shirt when I woke up in the morning but it wasn’t any thing to¬†drastic, and it was an old T-shirt that I only wear to bed anyway so I didn’t mind. And again once I had washed it off it was the perfect¬†shade ! just a bit darker than the previous tan.

After this I headed out to meet a group of friends to go to the beach, one of them being the friend I mentioned earlier who used St Tropez. She had also fake tanned the night before  but using St Tropez, and I kid you not, our tans were EXACTLY THE SAME.  Except she had paid a lot more for it than I had ! haha

So to sum up I highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a good instant tanner who’s not looking to spend a lot. I will defiantly continue to use this product, and I will be¬†repurchasing. I may pick up some St Tropez in the future just to give it a go, and see if I can notice any differences.¬†But for now I am very happy using St Moriz.

Thank you for reading, Byyyeee ūüôā

Summer Clothing Essentials

summer cloths

Hey everyone! I hope you are having a great day !

So its finally June and officially summer , woohoo ! and even though the weather has been crappy the last couple of days, iv got my fingers crossed for¬†some good weather coming soon though. So in preparation for this hopefully soon to be arriving glorious weather I have been getting together my essentials for the summer ūüôā

 Tops

kjfgksd

One of my all time favourite combos in the summer is a crop top with a big checked shirt thrown over the top. Although my checked shirt collection is beginning to get way to big and slightly¬†out of control…this blue shirt from new look is my favourite. Iv had this for about 6 months and its crazy how much use I have gotten out of it ! I also like to take it to the beach with me and use it as a cover up over my bikini if I feel my self beginning to burn ! I also picked up these two crop tops from Topshop¬†in a 2 for ¬£10 deal and I think I might have to go back and get some more colours ! My favourite way to wear these are under shirts or under my denim dungarees.

Bottoms

kjfhskh

So iv added in some extras than cant be seen¬†in the first image as I couldn’t fit all of my favourites in one picture haha ! for my essentials I have gone for a pair of short dungarees from New Look¬†, some denim high waisted shorts, again from new look.¬†And a pair of black high waisted jeans from Primark¬†( which is a staple all year round for me to be honest…) all of these items iv had for about a year now, and they have served me well !

Shoes

ljhfdkj

In the summer I tend to mix it up a bit. I prefer to wear closed shoes like my converse of plimsolls when I am say in town, at college or going for a walk. However I whip out my sandals if Im going to say the beach, or picnic. Also I am getting together some sandals for my up coming holiday to Turkey ( so excited !! only 4 weeks to go !! )

Jewellery

lchgkdj

So ill let you in to a little secret, all the jewellery in the image above¬†is from…..PRIMARK ! crazy ! I have been¬†very impressed by¬†¬†Primark’s jewellery this spring/ summer. I love the bobho/ festival/Aztec theme they have gone for. I have had a look in other shops at the jewellery in places like New look, Topshop, River Island and Claires but in my opinion, Primark is still winning on the jewellery front.

Hat and Sunglasses

klcjglj

And of course everyone needs a hat and pair of sunnies in the summer. My sun glasses are from Primark and they were something like ¬£2 or ¬£2.50 ! complete bargain. and my hat is from¬†accessorise was on sale. Although I cant actually remember how much it was :/ I was so thrilled to actually find a hat that fit my head ! I have a bit of pea head so most hats either fall off or slip down and cover my eyes….

Thankyou for reading !! Byyyeee

Goodbye Exams Hello FREEDOM !!

Hey Everyone !!

long time no post ..but now I’m back and exams are over ! This feeling of freedom and relief is amazing. It like a huge weight has been taken off of my shoulders and my mind can breath. And in this moment I don’t care if iv passed or failed, I’m just so happy that its all behind me.

So naturally , as I stressed continuously about my exams I began to imagine my future and how the results I got in these exams would effect my future and career path. would I get good grades ?¬† would I get into my first choice uni? would I get into uni at all?¬† and if I didn’t, would this mess up my entire career ? and then I realized something… IT DIDNT MATTER. Going to university, and in fact exam results in general¬†is not the be all and end all. I think that it is important for anyone ever taking exams to understand this ! we have had it drilled into us from the age of 4 or 5 that if we don’t go to university, will not succeed in life. This is simply not true !!! there are other ways of getting into your dream career/ job without going to university. Apprenticeships ?¬† volunteer ? building up a portfolio? starting at the bottom and working your way up ?

Now, i realize that if you dream of becoming something along the lines of a doctor or lawyer then yes a degree is required, but for someone like me who wants to work in the television industry , university is a choice, not a requirement. Its something that I want to do and I absolutely love the sound of the course. And I find it incredibly frustrating that everything rests on a 1-2 hour period at the end of the year when there could be many external factors affecting an individuals performance like stress, physical and mental exhaustion or perhaps even problems at home.

So in a nutshell should you work hard for your exams ? Yes. Should you try to achieve the best you can? Yes. should you revise and stress so much that it begins to effect your health and wellbeing ? hell NO. Although it is completely normal and justified to feel¬†stressed and under pressure, don’t let it go to far !¬†You are your top priority !! if exams are not your thing DONT PANIC there are plenty of other routes.

Quick update

Hi everyone ūüôā

So due to my exams getting ever closer, unfortunately until they are over I wont be able to post¬†for a couple of weeks¬†(grrr) But just in case you thought I was abandoning this blog I’m not, I promise¬†!! I will be back haha.

Thankfully photography is all coursework so that’s all been¬†completed and handed in, so that’s one subject ticked off my list ! and then on the 8th of June I have 2 exams !! my media studies exam and my first psychology exam ( I’m dreading psychology :/) Then on the 14th of June I have my last psychology exam !! and then I’m free for the summer woohoo !!! And I can post as much as I want ! So now iv just got to get through these next couple of weeks and then I can walk out of my last exam and breath a sigh of relief that its all done and over with.

So for those lucky buggers who have finished for the summer, go out and soak up the beautiful weather and enjoy your freedom ! And for the rest of us who still have exams to do, remember we only have a couple weeks to push through and then it will all be a memory and we can get on with the important task of relaxing !

good luck everyone xx

Oats 3 Ways

I love oats !! they’re¬†nutritious, versatile and¬† cheap (I got a kilogram for 75p !!) so here are 3 ways in which I use oats.

1.Porridge

DSC_0030

Ingredients:

  • oats 50 grams
  • milk 200 ml
  • sugar/ honey
  • fruit of choice
  • cinnamon (optional)
  • coco powder (optional)

Method :

Add the oats and the cold milk to a sauce pan over a medium high heat. Bring to the boil¬† and turn the heat down and simmer for 2-3 minutes. At this stage you could customise your porridge as you want, by adding cinnamon, coco powder or sugar. usually I would add some sugar but seen as I was adding honey at the end I didn’t bother¬†adding any sugar. then simply pour into a bowel and add your toppings. I topped mine with a generous squeeze of honey and a handful of frozen berries.

2. Oat-Banana balls

landscape oat balls final

Ingredients  (12 balls)

  • oats 100 grams
  • 1 banana
  • peanut butter
  • chocolate chips (optional)
  • raisins or dried cranberries (optional)

Method:

Mash the banana in a bowl , add a table spoon of peanut butter and mix it all together. At this point you can add any extras that you want such as the chocolate or dried fruit. Then just add the oats and mix until everything is well incorporated and roll into bite sized balls and place on a rack or baking tray. Then just pop them in the fridge for a minimum of 2 hours and then tuck in !

3. Oats in a Jar

lkrtyylkrj

Ingredients :

  • oats 50 grams
  • milk
  • honey
  • yoghurt of your choice
  • fruit of your choice

Method:

Add the oats into¬†a jar and pour in just enough milk that all the oats saturated but do not go over that top of the oats. Then top with honey and a layer of your yogurt ( I used natural yogurt but¬†greek or vanilla works just as well)Then top it off with whatever fruit you want. I added banana and frozen berries. Then just leave in the fridge over night for the oats to absorb the milk and for the berries to defrost and that’s breakfast sorted for the morning !

And that’s it …for now !! whether you’re a broke student looking for some cheap meal ideas or trying to find some healthier alternatives, these oat based foods are perfect !

5 Must Do’s This Summer !

68537080d7a9b82df8cf3ac3fa65e6da

Summer is almost upon us !!¬† and I don’t know about you but I’m buzzing for it. No school, no college, and no stress. so if your left not knowing what to do with all the free time you will have, here are a few of my recommendations.

  1. Car Boot Sales  If you have never been to a car boot sale in the summer you are missing out ! its a fun way to spend a day in the sun and its an incredibly cheap day out. You can find some beautiful items for an absolute bargain and no one else will have it as the item probably is not available in shops. Then to top it all off, a trip to the car boot burger van and an ice-cream. Perfect.

2. Have a Barbecue Whether its at the park, the beach, or your back garden, whip out the Barbie and  invite a whole bunch of your friends and/or family around. Eat food, have a chit chat and have a laugh

3. Go Camping Now I’ll be honest , I’m not really and avid camper my self. Sitting in a damp, cold tent in the middle of February doesn’t really scream holiday at me. However last summer me¬†and some friends went camping at a local music festival and I had a brilliant time !! So much so that we are going again this summer ! Although this time around we are going to go to a bigger festival.

4. Go Somewhere You’ve Never Been Before . It could be another contry or the next town over, it doesn’t have to be far. Just go somewhere you’ve never been before and explore !!

5. And Finally….RELAX Relax and enjoy your summer, you’ve earned it ! recharge your batteries and do what makes you happy.

Hopefully these 5 must dos will give you some inspiration for how to make the most of your summer. So until the next post…. BYYEE x

How to Survive Exams

revision-using-colour-495w

So its that time of the year once again. Students up and down the country are arming themselves with some revision cards and a highlighter and revising like crazy. However there are some steps you can take to not only maximise your grades but also to maximise your well being and health during this very stressful time (trust me I get it. A level student right here)

  1. Eat the right stuff¬†. Its very important that your body and mind¬†has the right fuel to function at its optimum, and I know that in this busy time its tempting to reach for a pot noodle and a packet of crisps . DON’T ! instead try and eat a range of foods that will release slow energy, fill you up and be full of anti oxidants and properties that may just boost your memory ! such as fruits like blueberries. there is research linking the consumption of blueberries to better exam grades !!! I remember in secondary/high school when I was sweet 16 and taking my GCSE exams the school would make us drink blueberry smoothies¬†before our exams haha. other good foods include porridge and oily fish.
  2. ¬†Drink plenty of H20. Aim to drink a glass of water when you wake up¬†and 1¬†with¬† every¬†meal. Don’t forget to carry around a bottle of the stuff when you’re out and about. I find that this is when I’m most likely to forget to drink.
  3.  Get your Beauty Sleep. It is recommended to try and aim for around 7-9 hours of sleep per night. This is such an important one !! when we sleep is when our brains commit what we just revised into long term memory. without the right amount of sleep this process will be interrupted and your brain functioning and memory will be impaired.
  4. Don’t Procrastinate !! This is kind of an obvious one but still, if you don’t revise or revise the night before you will not get the grades that your are capable of. You want to be able to look back at your exams¬†and think¬†‘I did the best that I could’
  5. Dont stress to much !¬† At the end of the day this isn’t about getting straight As… Its about getting the best grades that you are capable of ,whether thats an A, a C or a F

Those are my tried and tested ways to survive the exam period. Now go forth and succeed !!!! Good luck xxx
